As this is my first post I'll simply share a little about me, this blog and what we're going to experience here. I'm a very typical American woman; I'm in my mid-30s, single, independent and hard-working. I'm well-educated and was raised in a primarily mid-level middle class family (although we were quite poor at one point when I was very young).
Much of my working life has been spent in the conventional route: university education, get a job, work hard and save. Lose job due to bad economy, find new job and repeat all over again. Repeat this several times and you have the sum total of my 20s.
Frankly I got sick of that repetitive madness. In my late 20s and early 30s I built my own marketing communications company, worked hard at that for several years but still didn't get anywhere near the level of success I knew I could achieve. And yet I wasn't making much money, I was unhappy and felt completely unfulfilled. To work SO hard, give SO much and yet have SO little to show for it seemed to be the hallmark my first 34 yrs of life.
All of that changed 6 months ago when I returned to the US after living abroad and wanted to join my friend's nutrition & cleansing company. I had a few clients in the health & wellness industry and I liked eating healthy. I valued cleansing as a necessary part of healthy living and I wanted the best possible protein source I could find - all great reasons to join his company. What he had I wanted and I got it - little did I know I would get a lot more than that in the process!
I knew of MLMs and network marketing thanks to Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad, Poor Dad and various other books I had begun reading in my late 20s. I knew this particular company was VERY good as I had tried the products in their early days almost 9 years previously.
And thus began my voyage back into entrepreneurship, self-employment and life-fulfilling purpose. But we'll get to all that in another post. :)
Now that you know a little about me let's talk about what to expect in this blog: I'm intending for this to be a consistently-updated blog that shares with you the highs and lows of succeeding in network marketing, the nitty gritty and the truth behind the "pyramid scheme" of MLMs. If you're in network marketing I hope you can relate in either your past or present circumstances; if you've ever been curious about MLMs then I hope this will open your eyes and give you some food for thought.
Whatever your situation please stay tuned - hang on and buckle up because we're gonna have a helluva ride. :)
